Geraldo Rivera in Iraq
I never have really cared for Geraldo, but give him credit when credit is due; he is telling it like it is. Geraldo Rivera
In my conversation with fellow businessmen yesterday (see post below) the comment was still being made that this was all about oil. That is one of the troubles with cynicism it blinds you to beautiful moments in history. No one thinks things are going to immediately get better and I'm sure there will be some blue tipped fingers showing up detached from their owners, but freedom is not free and the sooner we all wrap our arms around that truth, the better.

Thanks from Iraq
I had lunch yesterday with smart people who are involved in the same business I am. They wondered if people in the Middle East understood freedom. This note found on Powerline this morning should put to death that question. Maybe it is because they don't get it here that the can't understand how or why we should be trying to give the chance to others. Power Line: A thank you from the Ajinas

So Much for Tradition
Oh well, one in a row is all we got out of the new Friday night tradition. Last Friday night I started a new tradition of reviewing what I was having for dinner or where I had dinner that night. Sort of dropped the ball, here it is Saturday night. Bear with me, I'll get back on track next week. This week we'll call it Saturday Night Eats.
Review #2
In keeping with the slight shift of a day in reporting, I'm going to review desert tonight. The famous root beer float.
Several years back I tried the Atkins Diet and stuck with it for some time. During that time tonight's desert became one of my favorites. The float is made with A&W Diet Root Beer and half chocolate, half mint chip Breyers Carb Smart ice cream, (4 net carbs for the ice cream). I remember the trips with my folks to the A&W Root Beer stand on a hot summer night to get those frosted mugs of root beer. The taste of the canned stuff comes pretty close for me and the Carb Smart ice cream is just plain delicious!
I know you may be saying, chocolate ice cream in a root beer float? Well just like the mayonnaise on my stew last Friday, I'm hoping to spark a little creativity in your otherwise dull eating habits. Try it, its great and not fatting either!

Friday Night Eats
I'm starting a Friday night tradition of reviewing a food or restaurant each Friday. This will be the first in hopefully a long list of posts, here we go!

Trader Joe's Northwest Territory Premium Beef Stew
One of the staples of my developing years was beef stew. Sometimes it was homemade, sometimes out of a can. One thing was constant, mayonnaise! You read me right, Best Foods mayonnaise mixed in with that hot beef stew. Even though I have already eaten, my mouth has begun to water! So when I walked into Trader Joe's tonight what should greet my hungry eyes, Trader Joe's Northwest Territory Premium Beef Stew.
One of the more famous name brands and my favorite has been Dinty Moore Beef Stew. I have a new favorite. The meat chucks in Traders Joe's stew are actual chucks of meat. No processed pieces here. Gravy is fab and just the right number of carrots.
Give it a try and don't forget the mayonnaise!
